The Hermitage Museum
The Hermitage is the greatest collection of culture-historical objects in Russia and one of the largest museums in the world.
The Main museum complex consists of six buildings on the Dvortsovaya embankment.
They are Winter Palace, Small Hermitage,
Large(Old) Hermitage, New Hermitage,
Hermitage Theatre and Store House.
Peter and Paul Fortress
The fortress was founded by Peter the Great on the 27th May
1703 on a small Hare island in the delta of the river Neva. This date is the
Day of foundation of Saint Petersburg now. At first it was
built from earth and wood. The plan of the fortress repeats the island shape.
